Live Healthy

All around the world, the smokers are trying to opt for another alternative to cigarettes. It’s E-Cigarettes. Initially, it was promoted as a way, which helps you quit smoking. This resulted in more and more users shifting themselves to this new way of smoking. However, recently The US government has unveiled new federal rules that include a ban on the sale of e-cigarettes to people aged under 18.

E-Cigarettes also known as vaping looks like your normal cigarettes. They come with a battery, a heating element, and a cartridge that carries nicotine, other liquids and flavorings.

Scientists have warned that their vapour damages DNA which can lead to cancer. It uses nicotine, which is definitely addictive and cannot be considered safe. Like in the case of normal cigarettes, even in e-cigarettes, if stopped it can lead to feeling irritable, depressed, restless and anxious. Whether they are safe or unsafe – this debate continues. However under the FDA’s new rule, e-cigarette makers are not allowed to promote them as healthier alternatives to smoking, unless they give a supporting scientific evidence behind this claim.

We want a tobacco-free world after all and don’t want our youth to be addictive. Here are a few important things which we all might know about e-cigarettes.

1- Since its usage is increasing in the youth- parents need to know that nicotine still affects the brain development in children even it comes via e-cigarettes. Due to its candy flavourings, it attracts your kids and you might not come to know if they are vaping as it does not leave them with any smell. So you might want to find other ways to ensure that your kids are not trapped by this new addiction.

2- If you are an adult who does not smoke and think this is not similar to normal cigarettes, please don’t start. If you want to quit smoking, please consult a doctor for FDA approved methods.
