There are five types of practice for Yog.
1. Asans in the standing position.
2. Asans in the sitting position.
3. Asans done while lying on the stomach.
4. Asans done while lying on the back.
5. Asans practised for meditation and concentration.
Asans in Standing Position
There are many asans done in the standing position and prominently among them few asans as noted below are commonly practised by the persons according to their age, health and body power.
Surya Namaskar, Tadasan, Garudasan, Ardhchandrasan, Ashwathasan, Dhruwasan, Vrikshasan, Padhastasan.
Asans in Sitting Position
There are so many asans practised in the sitting posture. Some of the Asans prominently practised commonly by the persons according to their age and physical power are noted below.
Kamarchakrasan, Janushirasan, Pashchimottanasan, Gorashahsan, Gomukhasan, Baddhpadmasan, Konasan, Yogmudrasan, Ardmatsyendrasan, Vajrasan, Ushtrasan, Mandookasan, Bhoonamanasan, Shashankasan, Akarnadhanushtankarasan, Brahamcharyasan, Suptavajrasan, Padangushthasan, Singhasan, Parvatasan, Vakrasan, Ardhchandrasan and many more.
Asans done while lying on stomach
Bhujangasan, Shalbhasan, Makarasan, Dhanurasan, Naukasan, Sarpasan, Shithilasan, Mayurasan and many other asans.
Asans done while lying on back
Uthanpadasan, Katiuttanasan, Matsyasan, Halasan, Sarvangasan, Pawanmukhtasan, Markatasan, Hastpadottanasan, Chakrasan, Padvrittasan, Setubandhasan, Chakrasan, Dwichakrikasan, Shavasan and many more.

Padmasan, Sukhasan, Swastikasan, Sidhasan.
